Surface Pro 12-inch benefits from six years of driver and firmware support, ending May 20, 2031, then transitions to ongoing Windows feature and security updates.
Microsoft’s Surface driver and firmware lifecycle guarantees at least six years of hardware-specific updates for devices released on or after January 1, 2021. The Surface Pro 12-inch, released on May 20, 2025, will receive driver and firmware patches through May 20, 2031.
| Device | Release Date | End of Servicing Date |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Pro 12-inch | May 20, 2025 | May 20, 2031 |
After that date, the tablet will stop getting firmware and driver updates but will continue to receive Windows feature and security updates as long as it meets the operating system’s hardware requirements.
In rare cases, Microsoft may issue extra firmware fixes if critical vulnerabilities arise that cannot be resolved by OS-level patches.
