Microsoft provided full driver and firmware support for the Surface Pro 5 until January 15, 2024.
According to Microsoft’s Surface driver and firmware lifecycle policy, devices released before January 1, 2021 receive at least four years of driver and firmware updates from their release date.
As of December 1, 2021, the Surface Pro 5 has been available for four years since its release; however, Microsoft continued to support it until January 15, 2024, when driver and firmware servicing will end for both the standard and LTE models.
Device | Release Date | End of Servicing Date |
---|---|---|
Surface Pro 5 | June 15, 2017 | January 15, 2024 |
Surface Pro 5 with LTE | December 1, 2017 | January 15, 2024 |
After the end-of-servicing date, Surface Pro 5 units will continue to receive Windows OS features and security updates under the standard Windows Lifecycle Policy, as long as they meet hardware requirements for future Windows releases. In rare cases where critical security flaws require firmware fixes, Microsoft may issue additional patches beyond January 15, 2024.
