Surface Pro 8 supports external graphics via its Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports for enhanced gaming, rendering and creative workflows.
All Surface Pro 8 models include two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 technology. Thunderbolt 4 delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth and carries PCIe, DisplayPort and USB data, enabling you to connect an external GPU enclosure for higher graphics performance.

Thunderbolt 4 is a high-speed interface that brings PCIe x4 signals to the tablet. To use an eGPU, plug the enclosure’s Thunderbolt cable into one of the Surface Pro 8’s USB-C ports.
In most cases Windows will auto-detect the GPU, and you may only need to install the eGPU enclosure’s driver or your graphics-card driver. After setup you can drive external monitors or offload rendering to the external GPU.
These processors deliver smooth multitasking and enhanced graphics performance in a thin, fan-cooled design. The Iris Xe GPU in the i5 and i7 models offers up to 96 execution units for light gaming and creative workloads.
